Emily Snowden

Emily Snowden

The Goalie Trainer Founder and Coach

Emily Snowden founded The Goalie Trainer, with its dedicated goalkeeping facility, to coach goalies of all ages and levels and to help them reach their full potential. Her superior training brings goalies from all over the country to train with her on a regular basis.

Drawing from extensive knowledge and personal experience to all aspects of goalkeeping, Emily has a track record of training goalies selected to represent USAFH on various developmental and junior national teams. She was the NFHCA- Featured speaker and Co-Lead Educator for the 2024 NFHCA Annual Convention.  At the 2024 NFHCA Convention, she presented a podium speech and on-field demonstration of goalkeeping techniques to over 200 coaches.

Emily has trained with world-renowned goalie guru Martijn Drijver of the Netherlands, for five years.  This relationship gave her the opportunity to work with the world’s best goalies such as Maddie Hinch (GB) 3x Female Goalkeeper of the Year, David Harte (IRL) 2x Male Goalkeeper of the Year, and Dennis van de Pol (NDL) expert-level goalkeeping coach, among many others.

Emily uses her network of world-renowned goalies and coaches to constantly evolve as a coach. This leads to drills and exercises that are cutting edge in the field hockey goalkeeping world. Emily teaches the same skills that the world’s most elite goalies are using.

Why the Goalie Trainer? “I have known Emily for a number of years, and have firsthand experience with the influence she has had on goalkeepers, after recruiting and coaching Lizzie Gaebel for 5 seasons at Delaware. What is clear to me is not only does Emily provide unique opportunities for Goalies to receive advanced technical and tactical training, but that she also has purposeful, intentional, and focused development plan for each athlete in her care, both as a goalkeeper and as a person. I am thrilled to be able to learn from her, and to help grow the success of The Goalie Trainer!”

Meg Hadfield

Meg Hadfield

Megan Hadfield is a recent graduate of Drexel University where she was a 5-year starter, 2-year captain, and all-conference goalkeeper. She graduated with a B.S. in Finance and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration. Before her collegiate career, Megan had been goalkeeping since the 7th grade. Growing up in West Chester PA, Megan played for United Field Hockey Club before switching to WC Eagles as a high school sophomore, where she met and began training with Emily Snowden.

Why I am excited to join The Goalie Trainer Team: “I have firsthand experience with the positive influence The Goalie Trainer has on goalkeepers–providing tools, techniques, and guidance on how to be a better player and person. I am ecstatic to be a part of the company’s continue success and help shape athletes’ careers, focusing on supporting the growth of individual’s physical and mental skill sets to help level up their play.”

Amy Kieft

Amy Kieft has been with The Goalie Trainer since 2021. She worked in health care before taking time off to raise her three daughters, the youngest being a goalie. Amy and Emily first met when Emily coached her daughter, then forged a business relationship years later. She is the main point person for goalies and families and has a hand in almost every aspect of The Goalie Trainer, with the exception of coaching.

Amy has been a goalie parent since 2015 and has personally experienced almost all situations in raising a goalie.  When she’s not pacing on the sidelines at the top of the circle watching games, Amy enjoys playing tennis and traveling.

Why The Goalie Trainer: I enjoy working with The Goalie Trainer because of the positive impact training has on young people. Goalies leave training having worked hard, but also feeling good about their progress at each training. Goalies have been able to form a community with like-minded athletes who have a very specialized role on their teams. Seeing athlete relationships transcend schools or clubs is heartwarming, and goalies always have a place where others fully understand the nature of the position. Being a goalie parent is also a unique experience, and I enjoy being able to share my perspective and knowledge with parents supporting their goalie.
